EMI Music Worldwide: The London-based company reported that its six-month earnings jumped 64% to a record $82.7 million. Sales surged 23% to $985.9 million, also a record. EMI, which owns Capitol Records of Los Angeles, said the results reflect the popularity of its artists M. C. Hammer, Bonnie Raitt, Sinead O’Connor and others.
