A Santa Monica gift shop was stripped of $250,000 worth of leather goods by someone who broke through a wall from an adjacent store in a shopping mall, Police Lt. Jim Dawson said.

The theft was discovered by Sefik Vurgec, proprietor of the Paris Gift Co., when he opened for business Thursday at the 3rd Street Promenade, Dawson said. He said the shop was “cleaned out.”
