The troubled Channel Seven television network announced today it would cut 100 jobs and freeze executive salaries for two years.

The job eliminations hit four of the network’s five stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane, chief executive Bob Campbell said.

In a statement, Channel Seven said economic conditions had become considerably worse in recent weeks and forced the network to act to ensure its economic viability.
