Share

A U.S. military team flew to Hanoi today and picked up 11 sets of remains believed to be of U.S. soldiers missing in Vietnam, a U.S. Embassy spokesman said.

James Williams, the embassy spokesman in Bangkok, said a U.S. team picked up the remains in Hanoi and left for the Central Identification Laboratory in Hawaii where they will be examined in an attempt to make identifications.

“The United States recognizes and appreciates Vietnam’s unilateral efforts which have brought increased accounting for the Americans missing in Southeast Asia,” he said. “We hope to see similar concrete results from joint efforts.”
