Temple City : Bank Relocation Approved

Share

The City Council voted Tuesday to allow Bank of America to build an office at the corner of Hermosa Drive and Rosemead Boulevard, to replace the one two blocks away at Las Tunas Drive and Reno Street.

The bank must relocate to make room for the planned Temple City Square redevelopment project, a shopping center to be anchored by T. J. Maxx, a discount clothing store.

Tom Parrington, an attorney representing the city’s redevelopment agency, said the only hurdle remaining is to decide what price the city will pay for the bank’s present property. Temple City Square will be built on that property and other land at the northwest corner of Rosemead and Las Tunas.

Robert Dawson, Temple City’s community development director, said the bank property is the last the city needs to acquire for the shopping center. Construction is expected to start early next year.
