If the Shoe Fits: Ava Gardner’s many pairs of shoes sold briskly at an auction of the late actress’ possessions Wednesday. The auction at Sotheby’s in London netted $678,000. Gardner’s collection of 78 pairs of shoes included shocking-pink stilettos, ivory satin shoes with diamante buckles and lime-green loafers. Among the clothes were the pink sequined halter-neck dress Gardner wore to the opening night of “The Barefoot Contessa” in Tokyo and a silk negligee from the film “The Cassandra Crossing.” Gardner died in January at age 67.
