Dismantle the Transportation Commission

Share

As we look toward the future, it is important for the voters and taxpayers of Ventura County to realize that the old-time special interests who pushed Measure A, which was defeated Nov. 6, can jerk the Ventura County Transportation Commission around just like a kite on a string. A solution that could help dilute the power of entrenched special interests would be to dismantle the commission.

Dismantling the commission would help save the county money in these tight budget times and return the decision-making process to the Board of Supervisors, where elected officials can make decisions at regular times in a well-known public forum. This would be a decided improvement over the meetings that are held in a back room of the Transportation Commission offices that no one can find without detailed directions.
