Pilot’s Body, Plane Found in San Gabriel Foothills
The wreckage of a small plane and the body of its pilot were found Monday in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains north of Fontana, authorities reported.
The single-engine Cessna apparently crashed about 7 p.m. Sunday in rugged terrain about one mile north of Interstate 15, said Gary Mucho, regional director of the National Transportation Safety Board.
There was no fire, but a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy said the plane was so broken up that the wreckage resembled confetti.
The pilot was only identified as a male resident of Upland.
