Subaru Cuts Work Force: Subaru of America Inc. will trim its 1,080-person work force by as much as 10% to cut costs and restore profitability, a company spokesman said. Some employees have been notified that they will be let go, effective Dec. 28, and other reductions will be made over the next few months, spokesman Richard Marshall said. He said the layoffs would affect the company’s Cherry Hill, N.J., headquarters, a Pennsauken, N.J., facility, regional offices in West Palm Beach, Fla., and Savage, Md. Subaru of America, owned by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan, suffered losses of $42.4 million last year.
