Reuters said today that Glen Renfrew, managing director and chief executive, would retire March 1 and be succeeded by Peter Job, now managing director of Reuters Asia.

Job, 49, has been with Reuters for 27 years. He is based in Hong Kong and is scheduled to move to London, the news agency said.

Renfrew, a native of Australia, joined Reuters in London in 1952. He served in various editorial and management roles in Asia, Africa and Europe and, between 1964 and 1971, managed Reuters’ entry into the computer-based information business, the news agency said.

Job was born in Exeter, England. He joined Reuters in 1963 and, after training in London and Paris, served as a correspondent and in editorial management posts in India, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and Latin America.

Job moved into business management in 1974 and assumed steadily increasing responsibility across the full range of the company’s activities, Reuters said.

Reuters Holdings PLC supplies the global business community and news media with a wide range of facilities including real-time financial data and transaction services, access to historical databases, news and news pictures.
