Countywide : Support Offered for Cancer Patients

The UC Irvine Clinical Cancer Center is offering free support groups for cancer patients, their families and care-givers. Participants are welcome regardless of where a patient receives medical care.

The groups and their December meeting dates and places are:

* Cancervive, for patients who have not had treatment for at least six months, will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Doubletree Hotel, 100 The City Drive. Preregistration is required. Call Gina Andre at (714) 893-4541.

* A weekly group therapy program for cancer patients will meet from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. Dec. 5, 12 and 19 at UCI Clinical Cancer Center, 101 The City Drive. The group will meet in Administration Building No. 44. Participants must preregister. Call Jann Rabin at (714) 634-5081.

* A support group for patients, care-givers and family members is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 11 at the cancer center pavilion. For details, call Bobbe Mootchnik at (714) 634-5644.

* A group for women who have or have had breast cancer is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10 and 17 at the cancer center pavilion. For information, call Jodi Saia at (714) 634-6968.
