From Times Staff and Wire reports
Chevron Surrenders Exploration Permits: Chevron Corp. said it would surrender four offshore oil exploration permits for Australia’s Great Barrier Reef because of environmental objections. Exploration on the reef was prohibited in 1975 with the passage of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Act.
