MINNEAPOLIS —
Cathy Gainey, wife of Minnesota North Stars Coach Bob Gainey, is seriously ill with what has been diagnosed as a brain tumor, team officials reported.
Cathy Gainey, 35, suffered a seizure Friday and underwent medical tests over the weekend. Doctors discovered a mass on her brain and ordered more tests Monday. She is expected to undergo surgery within a few days.
Gainey accompanied his wife to examinations and did not attend the team’s practice Monday.
