No Go for Van Gogh: A Vincent van Gogh painting owned by Elizabeth Taylor failed to sell at auction when bidding did not reach the minimum acceptable price. Bidding on “View of the Asylum and Chapel at St. Remy” started at $9.6 million and reached $11.14 million, Christie’s of London said, but did not achieve the undisclosed minimum price. The auction house had expected the painting to fetch between $15 million and $19 million. The work depicts the asylum where Van Gogh committed himself toward the end of his troubled life. The actress bought it in 1963 for about $165,000.
