World: IN BRIEF : EL SALVADOR : 12 Reported Killed in Rebel Attacks

At least 12 people died in fighting in northern El Salvador as a wave of stepped-up rebel attacks entered its third week, the army said. Eight rebels of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front and four soldiers died in clashes in Chalatenango province, 55 miles north of San Salvador, a military spokesman said.
