OH YEAH? The mayor of Culver City urged his City Council this week to reject a townhouse project because it was terribly mediocre--”like something we’d see in Orange County.” . . . “I knew as soon as I said it I was in trouble,” cracked Steven Gourley several days later. “Let’s see if I can get out of this: Orange County grew so fast that developers didn’t use a lot of creativity. There’s probably some of that in Culver City too. OK?” . . . Does this ruin his chances for statewide office? “I’m a Democrat. They’d never vote for me anyway.”
