Computer Chip Orders Fall: A widely watched indicator of the health of the computer chip business dropped again in November, dampening hopes that the industry will soon emerge from a long period of flat sales. The Semiconductor Industry Assn.’s monthly book-to-bill ratio, which compares orders to actual product shipments, fell to 0.90 in November, meaning that only $90 in new orders came in for every $100 of shipments. The figure represents a decline from 0.95 a year ago, and from the 0.95 posted in October, which is normally a weak month.
