U.S. Help for Food Shortages in Soviet Union

Share

America is deep in debt and on the verge of a recession. We are preparing for a war that will cost thousands of lives and $2 billion a day to keep the crude flowing. The Soviet Union has the world’s largest oil reserves and no food on the shelves. American farmers produce more food than any country in the world and our oil reserves are inadequate to meet our needs.

Our current crop of “leaders” have a great opportunity to show our new friends--the Russians--the wonders of our free enterprise system in action. The boys on Wall Street could put a deal together before Christmas that would help our farmers, bring oil to our shores, feed the hungry Russians and establish trade with the abundant natural resources of the world’s newest Teddy Bear!

We have always been the best at forgiving and forgetting past differences and establishing mutually beneficial agreements. It’s time for George Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev to make the “deal of the century.” Let’s save America’s greatest resources--our young people--from dying in some desert and put them to work shipping grain instead of guns. When you can keep the peace and profit from it, anything else would be uncivilized!
