P.M. BRIEFING : Allstate Rates Cars by Insurance

The Dodge Daytona Shelby and Dodge Caravan are close in price but far apart when it comes to insurance costs, according to one insurer’s annual rating of more than 200 domestic and foreign vehicles.
The Caravan minivan is among the cheapest vehicles to insure in the $10,000-to-$15,000 price range, and the sporty Shelby is among the costliest, Allstate Insurance Co. said.
Three other Chrysler minivans--the Dodge Grand Caravan, Plymouth Voyager Turbo and Plymouth Grand Voyager GT--and the Chrysler Fifth Avenue also ranked among the 10 models with “much below average” insurance costs in their respective price categories, Allstate said.
The list was rounded out by the Subaru Justy, Suzuki Swift, Toyota Tercel, Ford LTD Wagon and the Volvo 240.
