LEWD LAW: It was enacted with one target in mind. . . . The Mitchell brothers’ X-rated theater in Santa Ana. But because of litigation against the theater, the city was never able to apply the law, and today the City Council will vote on repealing its “lewd film” ordinance. The target has already gone: The Mitchell brothers voluntarily closed the theater last June, citing a lack of patrons. Now the law is going too, victim of an effort to eliminate “obsolete or unnecessary sections” of the Santa Ana city code.
