State officials won’t discuss an investigation into possible criminal activity involving complimentary University of Nevada-Las Vegas basketball tickets.

Atty. Gen. Brian McKay, whose office is spearheading the investigation, has declined to discuss details of the case, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported in today’s editions.

An internal investigation by the university showed that about 6,000 complimentary tickets distributed during the 1989-90 season could not be accounted for. The tickets carried a value of about $300,000.

The state Board of Regents voted in October to turn the matter over to the attorney general’s office.
