From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A judge in Oshkosh, Wis., overturned the conviction of a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman who doctors say has 46 personalities, ruling a defense psychiatrist should have been allowed to examine her. Judge Robert Hawley signed an order for a new trial for Mark Peterson, 29, convicted of sexual assault under a state law that makes it a crime to have sex with someone who is mentally ill and cannot understand the consequences of the behavior. The prosecution argued that Peterson manipulated one of the woman’s personalities to have sex with him.
