U.S. Happy With Norway’s Progress on Whales: President Bush will not impose economic sanctions on Norway even though it has refused to stop hunting whales, the White House announced. The sanctions would have limited U.S. imports of Norwegian fish products. “We’re very pleased with the President’s decision,” said Ingvard Havnen, press counselor at the Norwegian Embassy. The Administration cited Norway’s improvements in designing its research program and “a reduction in the take of whales from 68 to five North Atlantic minke whales.”
