Four men robbed a wholesale jewelry salesman in Linda Vista Friday night and made off with an estimated $500,000 in gold, rubies and diamonds, police said.

Chau Minh Pham, 37, was walking to his car with two briefcases containing ruby necklaces, diamond rings and gold chains after having made a sales call in the 6900 block of Linda Vista Road when four armed men drove up and robbed him, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

Pham, a jeweler from Garden Grove, estimated the value of the contents of the briefcases at $500,000, Robinson said.

Three of the four men had handguns and the fourth was armed with a rifle, Robinson said. The getaway car, a light blue Toyota, had been stolen from the Linda Vista area on Thursday and was found abandoned Saturday in the same area, Robinson said.

No shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident, Robinson said.
