Catholic Affair Figure Said to Have Overdosed

COLUMBUS, Ga. —
The woman whose affair with Atlanta’s Roman Catholic archbishop had prompted his resignation remained hospitalized Saturday, one day after she took a drug overdose, police said.
Vicki R. Long was admitted to the mental health unit at Doctors Hospital on Friday evening after swallowing a large number of prescription pills at her mother’s home, police said.
Archbishop Eugene Marino resigned last summer. Church officials confirmed his two-year relationship with Long.
