Aussie Plant News

Australia may be half way around the world, but its plants are increasingly being seen in Southland gardens. That’s because our dry-summer/wet-winter climate is very similar to theirs, and many of their rugged plants flourish here. But information about these plants has been scarce.

Recently, Kathy Musial, plant curator at the Huntington Gardens, launched the Australian Plant Society of California. For that organization she produces a lively, informative quarterly newsletter, and she has also arranged for members to receive Australian Plants, the highly regarded, but difficult to receive, quarterly publication of the Society of Growing Australian Plants.

To receive both these publications and learn more about Australian plants, send $18 to the Australian Plant Society of California, P.O. Box 50722, Pasadena, Calif. 91115. The annual membership fee will be prorated for the year.
