The IRS Has a Heart: Something will be missing when Americans open their mailboxes today. Tax forms from the Internal Revenue Service will not be included in the post-holiday deluge of late Christmas cards. The IRS did not forget. It simply doesn’t want to be the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. IRS Commissioner Fred T. Goldberg Jr. decreed that the mailing of 108 million tax packages should take place on Dec. 28, not on Dec. 26 as had been done for years, to let people enjoy the holidays a bit longer before the IRS throws a wet blanket on them.
