IRVINE : Ex-Director to Fill Term on Water Panel
The board of directors of the Irvine Ranch Water District on Wednesday selected former director John Withers to fill a seat vacated by the resignation of Charles McGee.
McGee, who was elected to the board in November, resigned Dec. 10 after taking a job with the Orange County Sanitation District.
McGee quit the race two weeks before the election, but his name remained on the ballot and he won a seat anyway, said board President Peer Swan.
“He dropped out when he decided to go to work for the sanitation district,” Swan said, adding that “It would be an inherent conflict of interest to serve on our board and work for that agency.”
Withers will serve until the next district election in November, 1992.
