A suspect in eight Chula Vista robberies was arrested Thursday by police on a stakeout at a bank branch.

Hugh Francis McLinden, 36, was arrested shortly after 10 a.m. after he allegedly robbed the Great American Bank at 826 3rd Ave. McLinden listed his address in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue.

Lt. Merlin Wilson said McLinden presented a demand note to a teller, then took an undisclosed amount of money and ran from the building. He was arrested in the parking lot by Chula Vista police.
