TREE RECYCLING PROGRAM

In an effort by the city of Los Angeles to save landfill space and valuable resources, Christmas trees collected will be recycled into wood chips for compost material. Trees will be collected at curbside from residents in the South Central Automated Refuse and Yard Trimmings Collection Pilot area and a portion of North Central Refuse Collection area. Others can pick up a free bag of compost when trees are dropped off between Saturday and Jan. 5 (excluding New Year’s Day) from 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at these locations:

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works suggests that all residents in unincorporated areas contact individual haulers for Christmas tree recycling information. Sponsors of the city’s recycling program are the city of Los Angeles, United Pacific Corp. and the Greater Los Angeles Solid Wastes Management Assn.
