CASH CROP: In some cases, money does grow on trees. The Western Power Group of Newport Beach, which burns wood wastes to generate electricity, is trying recycled Christmas trees this year (B1). So far, its chief fuels have been straw from race tracks, trees from cleared citrus groves, cotton stalks from the San Joaquin Valley and scrap wood from construction sites.
