John (Jack) H. Fuller; Retired Truck Driver

John (Jack) H. Fuller, who ran a family trucking business in Lancaster for 28 years, has died at his Pearblossom residence. He was 82.

Fuller died Wednesday of heart failure, his son, Bill Fuller, said.

Born Aug. 13, 1908, in Nebraska, Fuller was a teen-ager when he came to California, where he worked in construction and later became a truck driver. In the early 1950s, he started a small trucking business, Reliable Delivery Service in Lancaster, which he operated until the mid-1970s. For the past year, he sold tools as a hobby at area swap meets and from the back of his car at 90th Street and Palmdale Boulevard.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hazel M. Fuller; three sons, Bill Fuller of Moreno Valley, John E. Fuller of Grand Terrace, and Dennis Fuller of Murrieta; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Murphy Mortuary, 154 E. Avenue I in Lancaster. Burial will be private. Donations can be made in Fuller’s name to Toastmasters International in Lancaster, of which he was a member.
