China’s Xu Yanmei, the 1988 Olympic gold medalist in women’s platform diving, and teammate Fu Mingxia finished 1-2 in preliminaries of women’s platform diving at the World Swimming Championships in Perth, Australia.

Xu had 435.03 points and Fu, platform champion at last summer’s Goodwill Games, had 406.80. American Wendy Williams, a bronze medalist at Seoul in ‘88, was third with 402.15 points.
