The human form in bronze sculptures and portraits, along with beach scenes and views of Palos Verdes Peninsula landmarks, are highlights of a display of works by three South Bay artists during January at the Artists’ Studio Gallery in Rolling Hills Estates. An Impressionistic style is reflected in the bronze sculptures by Claudie Toussier Oliver, and Robert Chevron is represented by watercolors and pastel portraits. Florence Strauss is showing landscapes and flowers in watercolor.

Titled “Mostly People and Places,” the show of 50 works continues through Jan. 27 on the second floor of The Shops at Palos Verdes, 550 Deep Valley Drive. The gallery is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. A public reception will be held Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.

The gallery is a cooperative venture of the mall and 24 artists who are members of the Palos Verdes Art Center in Rancho Palos Verdes. Chevron described it as “a showcase for the work of the artists,” who hold a group show in November and December and display works by two or three artists at a time during the rest of the year. Interest in the 2-year-old gallery seems to be increasing, Chevron said. “We’re always getting more and more traffic.”
