Disturbing Picture

I’m writing to you in regards to a photograph that ran on Dec. 2.

Whose clever idea was it to print the above picture? Have you any idea what the relatives and friends of these military personnel must feel when they see a picture of their husband’s, son’s or daughter’s ship with gravestones in the foreground?

I can’t believe the Los Angeles Times would print such a tasteless, insensitive photograph on the same page with pictures of women and children waving to their loved ones, not knowing if they would see them again.

Dorothy Green, whom you had quoted on the same page, said it all. “Just watching him on the ship--it’s frightening.”
