Paid attendance at the Martha Graham Dance Company engagement over the weekend at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa averaged 74.6% of capacity, Center President Thomas R. Kendrick said Monday.

The three-performance run, which ended Sunday, grossed $215,803, or 79% of the potential gross, according to Kendrick. “There will still be a subsidy required, but it will be significantly less than anticipated,” Kendrick said.

The appearance by the company was the first modern dance event sponsored by the Center, which offered the program as an option to its ballet series subscribers. About 36% of the subscribers took up the offer, according to Kendrick, with the remaining seats sold individually.
