THOUSAND OAKS : Council Considers Raising Trash Rates
Thousand Oaks residents would have to pay up to $1.50 more a month to have garbage collected under a City Council proposal to increase trash rates.
The City Council today will consider increasing rates for residential customers by 11.4%, a move that would raise monthly trash bills by $1.50 for residents of single-family homes to $14.60. Residents of multifamily housing would have to pay $1.10 more, or $10.50 a month.
If approved, it would be the second trash rate increase in six months, said Deputy Finance Director Steve Elam.
The last increase was in July, when residents of single-family houses saw bills rise from $12.70 to $13.10. Multifamily residences saw an increase from $9.10 to $9.40.
