Jarone Johnson Named Regional NAACP Director

A Los Angeles native has been named director of an NAACP region that includes California and eight other states, as well as Japan.

The appointment of Jarone W. Johnson Jr. as director of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People’s Region I was announced by Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks, NAACP’s executive director.

Johnson will serve as the principal representative of the National Office of the NAACP in a region that encompasses Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Japan, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. His appointment is effective immediately.
