Germ warfare--Because of an editing error, an article on germ warfare in the Dec. 29 editions of The Times said the tactic of infecting enemy soldiers with disease was thought never to have been used in modern warfare. But according to several historical texts, strong evidence points to the use by Japan of anthrax and plague germs to kill Chinese soldiers and civilians in several areas of Manchuria during World War II.
