The Denver Broncos didn’t win many games this past season, but they kicked off 1991 with a victory.

The Broncos won a coin flip with the Rams for the fourth pick in the first round of the NFL draft this spring. The Rams will pick fifth.

The teams will alternate positions in subsequent rounds of the draft, scheduled April 21-22.

At the NFL meetings in Atlanta on Tuesday, Broncos General Manager John Beake correctly called “heads” to give Denver the fourth pick, behind New England, Cleveland and Atlanta.

The two teams flipped a coin because each had finished 5-11 and their opponents had a combined .535 winning percentage.

Green Bay also won a coin flip with San Diego, giving the Packers the eighth pick.
