Former President Ronald Reagan said in a television interview Thursday that he believes there will be a war with Iraq, and he urged Congress to support President Bush’s policy of using force if necessary.

“Our Congress should pass a resolution that they will be behind the President if (he) has to take military action,” Reagan said on Cable News Network’s “Larry King Live” show, broadcast from Los Angeles.

Asked if he thinks that the United States and its allies will go to war with Iraq over the invasion of Kuwait, Reagan replied:

“Yes, I believe there is no way that you can reject the use of force if it comes down to where that is the only means of straightening that out.

“The United Nations was created to stop outlaw countries from doing that to their neighbors,” he added.
