From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Athens police and rampaging youths clashed after tens of thousands of high school students and teachers marched to protest alleged government involvement in a teacher’s slaying. The bodies of two men were found in a building the youths torched, and at least 83 others were injured. Police fired tear gas grenades and tried to scatter self-styled anarchists who set fires and hurled firebombs and stones. The teacher died in a clash between government supporters and opponents, who back student protests of attendance rules.
