A top administrator of the Simi Valley Unified School District will leave to take a job in Fresno, officials said Friday.

Cathi Vogel, associate superintendent of fiscal services, has accepted the job of financial officer with the Fresno Unified School District, said school board member Kenneth Ashton.

Vogel is the fifth high-ranking administrator to leave the largest district in the county in the past eight months.

Vogel was unavailable for comment.

Ashton said Vogel has been with the district for more than 10 years. She worked with state education officials to help the district plan its annual budget. She was also in charge of negotiating the sale or lease of the district’s surplus property.

“She did an excellent job,” Ashton said. “We’re going to miss her.”

Assistant Supt. Chester A. Howe retired in June, and a month later Peter D. Rogalsky, senior director of curriculum and instruction, left to become superintendent of the Oxnard-based Rio Elementary School District.

Also in July, Supt. John W. Duncan announced his resignation after 16 years to become head of the San Ramon Valley School District. Associate Supt. Allan Jacobs said in November that he would retire but did not say when.
