Woman’s Body Found Near Injured Husband
The body of a woman who had been shot to death was found in her Lake View Terrace house Friday beside her estranged husband, who was seriously injured by a self-inflicted wound, Los Angeles police reported.
The body of Marchel Farmer, 35, was found in the bedroom of her house in the 11700 block of Brussels Avenue. She had suffered two gunshot wounds to the head, police said.
Her husband, Steven, 29, was found near the bed with a self-inflicted wound to the head, Police Detective Al Ferrand said. Police said Farmer was hospitalized in grave condition but would not disclose the name of the hospital.
Officers checked the house after the man’s worried brother notified police Friday morning that the couple had not answered repeated phone calls.
A police spokesman said the couple were going through a divorce and that Steven Farmer had recently moved out of the house. Officers said they do not know when the shooting took place and that neighbors did not report hearing gunfire.
The case is being investigated as a murder and attempted suicide.
The couple have a 6-year-old son, who was staying with his grandmother at the time of the shooting, Ferrand said.
