Taxi Firm Offers Special Rate for Women at Night
Associated Press
STOCKHOLM, Sweden —
A taxi company has lowered rates for women traveling alone at night so they can afford not to use subway trains.
“We feel sorry for women who have to take the subway late at night,” says Benny Melin, head of the Stockholm company offering the special price. “They are frightened.”
Melin said women traveling alone will get 15% off rates between 6:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. A similar “women’s rate” was recently begun by a taxi company in Uppsala, near Stockholm.
