PARIS —
A painting by Maurice Utrillo that was stolen five years ago from a private collector in Montreal has been recovered in Paris, police said Friday.
“Le Cabaret du Lapin Agil,” estimated to be worth $400,000 and regarded as one of Utrillo’s finest works, was found in an art expert’s antique shop, they said.
Police said Joel Genest, 36, a Montreal restaurant owner, was being held for questioning.
