Boeing Co. announced that it has won a contract to help the National Aeronautics and Space Administration outfit astronauts flying on the space shuttle for an additional 10 years.

The latest award is a three-year, $103-million extension to a five-year contract awarded in December, 1985, and includes options that extend the period of performance to Nov. 30, 2000, according to Boeing.

The contract extension, said Gordon Fasbender, manager of the Boeing program, “shows that NASA is pleased with our processing activities and has confidence in our ability to continue for another 10 years.”
