From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A 75-year-old man in a wheelchair, apparently seeking funds to purchase medication, robbed a local bank after warning a teller that he would blow up the bank with a bottle of nitroglycerin, police said. During the incident at the HomeFed Bank, the suspect, identified as William Hart, apologized to the teller before leaving the bank in his motorized wheelchair with $75, police said. “I’m sorry,” police said Hart told the teller, “I need the money for medicine.” Police arrested Hart without incident two blocks away. No one was hurt in the robbery.
