Hollywood : Priorities Plan Assailed
A plan to earmark for social service programs 10% of the tax increment funds from the Hollywood Redevelopment Project has been criticized by the Los Angeles City Council for giving excessive latitude to the Community Redevelopment Agency.
By a unanimous vote Tuesday, the council recommended that priorities in the so-called Hollywood Social Needs Plan be set by the Hollywood Community Advisory Council, a citizens group appointed by Councilman Michael Woo, and not by the redevelopment agency.
“The plan as submitted appears to give excessive latitude to the agency to make decisions on projects without substantive input from the local community organization,” the council said in a report to the agency.
The council directed the redevelopment agency to report back in 45 days with its response to the criticism.
