U.S. Launches Air Strikes in Persian Gulf

It seems the international “New Order” for peace was heading in the right direction for many countries. We’ve seen the results with Russia, the Berlin Wall and a change beginning throughout the world--a New Order it is! These changes, I am sure, would have surprised my grandparents if they were living today. But despite the New Order, here we are today with war on the agenda.

The situation with the gulf is disturbing to me, as I’m sure it is with many people. I have not yet been through a war of this magnitude. Being born in the 1960s, I was not quite old enough to feel the effects of the Vietnam War. I only studied those effects in school. But this time it is different. What happens in the next few months, and perhaps longer, may have a drastic change on how we live our lives.

After recently completing graduate school, I am finally in a position to begin to live my life. A permanent job, a house, recreation, travel and enjoying life with family and friends. I guess all that may now have to be put on hold. This is not only disturbing for myself, but I also feel this way for my colleagues and friends who are also beginning their lives just out of school.

It is sad to think how fast our lives could take a change. A year ago, none of us would have ever imagined that we would be in this war situation today. But on this day of war, regardless of my position, or anyone else’s, I give credit and hope for the best to those serving our country in the gulf, and hope for a peaceful world ahead.
